Recently there have been many huge events that the public has been treated to that have been related to video game music. Each time I read and write about another big event that the industry can boast about, a part of me feels giddy and joyous. Why? Because these events have been few and far between, gaming music has relatively been a solo experience, with people usually enjoying it privately with earphones. But now? It’s truly been an amazing feat to see many platforms and events where video game music is being encouraged, appreciated, and showcased for what it really has to offer.
Another such event is taking place in Canada, for those who can go, it’ll definitely be an unmissable, once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Ottawa Pops Orchestra (OPO) will bring classic video game soundtracks to life with its Video Game Symphony, which will feature a complete live orchestra as well as a dramatic video projection. Sounds awesome, no?
Audience members are encouraged to cosplay and make videos. Attendees even have the unique opportunity to win a Nintendo Switch live, after competing in a Mario Kart game. Read that again. It seems like all our wishes have come true in this one event. So, save up, travel, and try attending an event that seems almost too good to be true.
Send us pictures and videos if you do!
