The rise in popularity of Grand Theft Auto VI’s first trailer has resulted in a rise in the number of streams for the Tom Petty song featured in the trailer. Thanks to the popularity of the trailer, which has now reached more than 114 million viewers, making fans interested in finding and listening to the Tom Petty song. Thanks to this, it eventually made a big push and made the streaming of the song increase rapidly on the Spotify platform.

What does Tom Petty’s song in the GTA 6 trailer tell us?

“Love Is a Long Road” is a song by Tom Petty, and is one of the songs from his first solo album, “Full Moon Fever”, which was released in 1989. “Full Moon Fever” was a very successful album for Petty, featuring several hit singles and becoming one of his most popular works. “Love Is a Long Road” reflects Tom Petty’s signature style with a rock sound and introspective lyrics. The entire “Full Moon Fever” album is considered a classic and includes other well-known songs such as “Free Fallin’,” “I Won’t Back Down,” and “Runnin’ Down a Dream.”

The number of Spotify streams for this song from Tom Petty increased 36,979% compared to last week with a total of more than 11 million streams for the song, which indicates the skyrocketing popularity of the song thanks to the appearance of the GTA 6 trailer. Not to mention the growth of streaming on all other music services. In response to this, representatives of the late Tom Petty said through their tweets that it was an honor to have “Love is a Long Road” featured in Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 1. Previously, another Tom Petty song “Runnin’ Down A Dream” was also featured in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

One of the things that is admired about the Grand Theft Auto franchise is the use of licensed music in their games. The last game in the series, GTA 5, featured almost more than 400 licensed songs on in-game radio stations representing every genre there is. The presence of Grand Theft Auto VI trailer 1 has made fans very enthusiastic about its presence, even though the release of the game is still in 2025. GTA 6 this time will be set in a city called Leonida which is inspired by Miami, Florida. Of course, fans can look forward to several other trailers that will still be released at a later date. Fans can also look forward to more revelations about the story, characters or even gameplay of this game later.
