Video Game Music Composers That Inspired the Industry

by Mishaal | Jun 8, 2022

We’ve always thought of music as an element in video games that is just as important as the script, the characters, the dialogue, the plot, and the action. Everything. Not only because it adds and elevates the game to its highest and truest potential, but also because music has the unique ability to exist outside of the hardware and software.

It can exist in our hearts and minds long after we’ve finished a game and that’s what makes video game music composers so important to the industry. We’ve spoken about some before on the blog as well, but which other composers should one know of and listen to?

Well to start with knowing more about Nobuo Uematsu, Jeremy Soule, Yasunori Mitsuda, Harry Gregson, Yoko Shimomura, Koji Kondo, Akira Yamaoka  and Yuzo Koshiro will surely extrapolate your knowledge about the world of video game music and its creators. Those that have bought us scintillating music extravaganzas such as Final Fantasy’s score, Skyrim’s soundtrack, Kingdom Hearts soundtrack and many more.

Music is incredibly significant in the realm of video games, and video game composers such as the ones mentioned above have contributed to defining how we see and interact with our favorite characters. These top video game composers understand how to produce the appropriate music for every time in the game, from furious fighting scenes to tranquil exploration of a new planet. Some musicians can even make us laugh or cry with their music and that is what gives their music a special place in our hearts forever.
