Elden Ring won first prize in the Spotify Streaming Division for Best Original Soundtrack in the Playstation Game Music Awards 2022, according to results released by Sony Interactive Entertainment. The ceremony attempts to commemorate the best popular gaming soundtracks from the previous year, including titles like Horizon Forbidden West, Sonic Frontiers, and others nominated.
The Awards are split into three categories: the “Spotify Streaming Division,” which is based on the number number of times the song is played on Spotify, the “Mora High Definition Category,” which is determined by the number of album downloads in the Mora store for music, and the “Special Award” category, which is reserved for music that has received a warm reception from its fans. The best and special honors in these three categories were selected by the amount of album views and downloads between September 15 and October 31, 2022.
Elden Ring won first prize in the Spotify category, followed by Tsukihime – a blue glass moon – and ICO. The top 10 also included Sonic Frontiers, Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero, Tales of Arise, Horizon Forbidden West, and Gran Turismo. In addition to the FFXIV Endwalker and Chrono Cross soundtracks, ICO, Trails from Zero, and Tales of Arise were acknowledged in the Mora awards.
There’s also a dedicated Spotify playlist out now that includes all the winning titles and others that were either nominated or special mentions, so if you feel like you want to check them out, or find some new video game music to jam to, we’d head on over and favorite that playlist asap.
