We’ve been talking a lot about how video game music will be in the future, or what the future of video game music will be like and recently a lot of gamers have been exceptionally taken aback with the Dying Light 2 OST.
The game has enjoyed immeasurable success and has left fans awed by its open-world theme, especially the parkour element that has been added to it. Zombie apocalypse games are usually focused on the zombies themselves, but this franchise has always added more to the mix.
This is now especially true when it comes to the game’s soundtrack. An almost otherworldly blend of medieval and electronic sounds that compliment the gameplay beautifully. Every move the character makes produces a sound that just elevates the gameplay to a whole other level. No easy feat to achieve given that the music is mainly instrumental and so so detailed.
Players like myself, are especially enthralled by all the night chase and parkour music, that almost intensifies the impending doom that the game successfully creates. Olivier Deriviere the game’s main composer, has been very vocal about all the boring soundtracks that accompany games nowadays and his version of what the future of video game music should sound like, as attempted in Dying Light 2 is something that has me on the edge of my seat thinking about what more the guy could do.
Have you heard the Dying Light 2 soundtrack? Which track resonated the most with you?
